3 Tips for Writing More Useful Content

November 14, 2017 by Hanna Kreuk

If you run an online business, one thing that can set you apart from your competition is the content you’re able to create. If you don’t already have a blog that you’re updating regularly, now is the perfect time to start. Although content marketing is a long-term marketing strategy, it has the potential to bring you a lot of success. However, you have to actually be contributing something worthwhile to the conversation to have your content be noteworthy. So to help you reach this goal, here are three tips for writing more useful content for your readers.

Know Your Specific Audience

Just like with other forms of marketing, you’ll actually find more success as you hone in on the specific group that you’re trying to target. While you might think that a general, generic piece of content would resonate with more people, a pinpointed piece of content will hit that small group of people much harder. To help with this, William Morrow, a contributor to the Huffington Post, recommends thinking about the specific people you want to target and then having your content address specific concerns they might have. For example, if you’re in the housing industry and want to target people actively trying to sell their home, you may want to write a detailed piece of content about appraisals and how they work. Tips For Choosing a Facebook Fan Page Cover Photo

December 25, 2016 by Hanna Kreuk

When it comes to Facebook, the biggest statement about your page is your cover photo. It’s essential to make sure that you choose the right one so that it speaks for your product in the way that you want it to.

If you choose a poorly constructed Facebook cover photo for your page you immediately lose credibility with your page visitors and potential fans. Save yourself the hassle and make sure that you apply these tips when choosing the perfect cover photo.

Choose a Relevant Image

Your cover image should state clearly what your business is about. Your photo should display an image clearly related to what your page is about.

When choosing a cover photo, if you have any doubt that the image isn’t relevant, go with your doubt and choose something else. You don’t want your visitors to be confused about what you’re promoting.

Make Sure The Dimensions Are Correct

If you choose a cover photo image that isn’t within the dimension specifications your image can appear cropped, pixelated, or in the wrong position.

The correct dimensions for a cover photo are 828 pixels wide by 315 pixels. You can specify this number in any photo editing app or program which has a crop feature.

A cover photo with incorrectly inputted dimensions looks awkward and unprofessional. This is one of the biggest mistakes to make when setting up your cover photo image.

Verify Mobile / Desktop View Correspond

Your cover photo may look fine from a mobile device but when you look at it from a desktop version the display is completely different. This is because the desktop and mobile displays are completely different from each other, and Facebook has not yet made a way for them to be identical on both platforms. To work around this, you’ll have to tweak your image until you find that it looks ok in both places.

Often what happens is because the timeline placement is different on a phone than on the desktop a certain portion of your image can become hidden by text that is not there on the desktop version. While this is a bit of an inconvenience to fiddle with, it’s necessary, so make sure you take a look before assuming it’s all ready to go.

Stay Current

Make sure that your cover photo is up to date and not advertising anything that has already passed. If dates are passed, offers expired, or anything is advertised that no longer applies, you lose your credibility. Your visitors should be able to come to your page and know that it’s not just an abandoned place needing to be updated.

Consistent maintenance is part of a successful fan page and it starts with your cover photo.
